Jayoma Perera

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

I’m a former MD and RP-qualifying psychotherapist, bringing a unique blend of medical insight and therapeutic expertise to support your mental health journey. Many of my clients find themselves juggling cultural expectations, family pressures, and the desire to stay strong even when life feels overwhelming. Therapy with me is a space to set down that weight, explore your needs, and build practical tools to navigate life on your own terms.

My approach is grounded, relatable, and a little light-hearted. I believe therapy should be a place where you can truly be yourself, ask questions, and feel supported without judgment. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, stress, or the daily challenges of balancing work, family, and personal growth, I aim to provide guidance that’s both practical and compassionate. Together, we can create a path that respects your experiences, celebrates your growth, and helps you thrive in ways that feel authentic to you.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in humanistic and culturally sensitive perspectives, drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Narrative Therapy, all from a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive lens. I work with clients who are exploring their sense of self and identity, often while navigating perfectionism, high-achieving lifestyles, or major career transitions. Many of the people I support are managing anxiety, depression, family conflict, or relationship challenges, and are seeking to strengthen their sense of self-worth and self-esteem. I also have experience supporting individuals who are processing trauma, including PTSD.

No matter what brings you to therapy, my goal is to create a safe, supportive space where your unique experiences are honoured and you feel empowered to move toward growth and healing.
